Julene’s Artistic fibres run deep – extending a lifetime as a Musician and Composer. Her profound life experiences and dedicated research gave her a rich foundation on which she grew a diversity of expertise in the role of Music in Health, Education and Social Change.

As a Composer she was classically trained at The Royal College of Music and Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Travelling the world she grew up exposed to many diverse styles and traditions of music making. Embedding diversity in her artistic practice, Julene specialises in Classical Crossover, in particular Classical Fusion. 

Notable Commissioners include; HRH Queen Elizabeth II and the Commonwealth Secretariat for whom she brought together the music of the Commonwealth Countries. She has also composed many Classical-Arab fusion works in the Middle East, noteable commissioners include HRH Shaikha Mai Al-Khalifa (Bahrain) and Al-Forsan Arena (Abu Dhabi). She has also created historically based orchestral works with Ministries of Culture, incorporating ancient histories and folk traditions into Symphonic scores.

Julene’s fascination with music extends beyond the artistic, she has engaged in a number of interdisciplinary and scientific projects to understand the multiple dimensions of music and its impact on the mind and brain as well as social change. She Co-Chaired the Arts, Humanities and Culture working group for Global Leadership 21 an initiative by the World Academy of Art & Science and UN Office Geneva. Julene holds an MA in Music and Development from SOAS, University of London, is a qualified Neurologic Music Therapist and Trauma Informed Expressive Art Therapist. Julene combined her years of research and expertise to found Musical Nutrition (www.MusicalNutrition.co).
